Musings on a Summer Day
'Who am I?.....'
My Mother's Day rose is flourishing & absolutely pulchritudinous. ( Just another word for beautiful, but now you & I know a new word!) It's another one of those fun words, like 'wonky' from my previous posts, but 'beautiful' is truly the word that expresses these divine flowers. & they smell as heavenly as they look.
A sweet, summer, bouquet my daughter surprised me with.
So much to do, these early summer days. With all of the rain, which I am NOT complaining about because we have previously been in a drought, our garden planting has been delayed & our lawn mowing has increased quite a bit!

Schnitzel doggie is improving
with acupuncture & chiropractic treatments & I am improving with Physical Therapy exercises (ugh!π)
I'm not quite as active as I was last summer, but I'm getting there & I want to because all of the things that I love to do in the summer are so therapeutic to my whole being, the cyclical rhythm of normal that brings such a calming & peaceful 'sameness' to our otherwise chaotic world. Of course, all of that could change in a moment too. & then what?

"Jesus Christ, the same today, yesterday & forever."
(Hebrews 13:8)
Someone once said that the only thing we can be sure of in this world is change. But not Jesus. He is our one anchor in these tumultuous, ever-changing (sometimes daily) 'Days of Our Lives'.
(...the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." (James 1:17)
This should give us great hope & chase our doubts & fears away.
Not only that, it should encourage us to be His lights in the darkness of this time.
Who am I? I am His expression in this world. I am created for good works & to walk in them. I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus, I am born for this time, to preach good tidings to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive, & the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to comfort those who mourn, to give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. I am to be called 'The Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell in.' I am to bless those who curse me, to do good to those who hate me, to pray for those who spitefully use & persecute me. I am Jesus' ambassador, His representative in my sphere of influence. I am His sheep (because He is the way, the truth & the life) & He is my Shepherd. Jesus is the "I AM". & I am His little "i am."
Here's the thing. We cannot let our times or circumstances deviate us from our mission, which is the ministry of reconciliation. & we can't let the world, the flesh or the devil dictate to us who we are or aren't. Only Jesus has the supreme right to tell us who we are & what our identity is in Him. After all, He knows. He's the one who put us together, every single identity cell.
So, if you really want to discover "Who am I?", go to Jesus, go to His word. Embrace His great love & heart for you. & then you can get on with "I must be about my Father's business." Don't wait. The world is waiting for your "who I am."
