September musings & a time for Transition...
My oh my!! Yesterday it was a high winds blustery, blistery, almost 100 degrees weather day! & today it was a mere, blustery, 52 degrees day. An over 40 degree difference! How does that happen?? I'm sure meteorologists have an explanation, but what care I? I'm just glad yesterday is but a memory & tomorrow will be what it should be. A nicely normal 72 degrees. Ahhhh. It looks like nicely normal days for awhile, although we could really use some rain. A lot actually. That monsoon rain in August was the last rain we have had. Everything has a sad, 'dry as dust' look. But I, as well as I'm sure many others, are praying for rain, especially for the pastures & water sources on the prairie.

I have always loved the month of September. It's probably the most nostalgic month of the year for me. By the end of the month all of the garden work is done. It was an extended season again because we had many hot days, so we have feasted on watermelon & corn on the cob because of it! & tomatoes!

When I was school age, school always began in September, usually after Labor Day. I always loved school. Except for my very first day of kindergarten.
As you can see I was not a happy camper! I was only four years old & I didn't want to leave home or my Mother. I can still remember the sorrow & fear that I felt on that day. & I hated that dress! It was a hideous yellow & black plaid! But, after a few days, I learned to like school, even love it! So, September is a happy memory month of those days.
This is the month of the apple. Apple pie, applesauce, apple butter, Apple Danish, apple crisp & just plain old apple eating! Apples are not only good to eat, they are so good for you! An apple a day!
On one of the rare cool days, I did my fall decorating.
Isn't the candy corn swag the cutest?? 😊Time for a bit of refreshment after all of that!
Kitty Maisie enjoying her teatime also. Actually, I left a bit of tea in my teacup & Maisie decided to try it & "Hey Mikie! She likes it!" So, I just started leaving a bit of water in it, so it's her new 'watering hole' now. Cute!
September is the time when soups & chowders, & chili start appearing at the supper table, the beginning of the comfort foods.
The night sky takes on a visual crispness & the stars are so clear it seems like you could reach right up & pick one from the sky. My husband & I have enjoyed our star-gazing 'rambles' seeing falling stars, satellites, & even a 'satellite train'! But now we take a sweater to snuggle up in because no matter how hot the day, the night times are growing cooler, a forerunner of days to come.

This year marks the first (oh those 'firsts') September that I have not had a child in the house for over fifty years. The transition to 'none' has been sort of 'berefting'. (My own word. It perfectly describes my heart.) There are so many transitions in one's lifetime, so many new normals. & it seems that the older I get, the more there are, these 'new normals'. But this one thing keeps me anchored in our constantly changing lives & world (not always for the better! )"Jesus Christ, the same yesterday today & forever."
(Hebrews 13:8)
Those words should resonate peace, stability, a restful calmness to our hearts. Here is a hope we can depend on, cling to, lay down & go to sleep with absolutely no fear no matter what is going on around us. Can't you just feel the profoundness, the safeness of those words? Here is an anchor I can wrap myself around in all of the 'new normals'. Jesus. Here for us all. September transitions. & all of the rest. I believe I'll do that right now. Lay myself down to peace & sleep. In His everlasting arms.

Raintree Perk of the Day:"....there is no shadow of turning."
There is no changing. That's our Jesus. Yes!
