The Good Old Summertime
& what a summer it's been, with the constant haze from the smoke that filters in from other states, which compromises the life & health of life & habitats. & of course it's source being from the fires of other states & down from Canada which have been the inspiration for many prayers for those who have suffered such loss.
Also, the economy which is spinning & fluctuating, seemingly out of control.
Then there's the issue of co-vid & all of the negatives & fears it produces.
& all that goes on in our government that almost daily makes such a farce & mockery of freedom & truth that would make our forefathers proverbially ( is there such a word?) roll in their graves! Oh boy, there goes the blood pressure through the roof! Well, for those who put their trust in it instead of God. (Which I don't & do!)
& how about to school or not to school?
Or to get the shot or not to get the shot? (NOT!)
Then the recent debacle in Afghanistan & the heartbreaking things happening there. & at the border.
I have done a lot of weeping & praying for people & situations this summer. & we must keep on praying, praying, praying. It's our worlds lifes- blood & it brings Jesus into those situations to bring help, victory, deliverance, healing & grace.
I'm sure we all have had mega-stresses over the summer that are stock-piling & there just seems like there's no relief or end in sight of the loss, chaos & suffering, personal or universal.
BUT...
although I've said it before, there is a way out, in & through all of ours & this worlds troubles.
"Jesus is the answer, for the world today.
Above Him there's no other, Jesus is THE WAY."
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."
Time to push the re-set button again!!
which means resetting our focus. On Jesus.
If I could see the planet from outer space, in my mind I would see the world spinning at a phenomenal speed & hurling people out into the universe like crazy! (Hmmm, I could think of some people that that might not be such a bad idea. 👿 Just kidding.)
In truth, God really is in control, even of satan & will not let him go past the boundaries He has set up. However, as Christians, we have a part to play, a job to do, a responsibility to bring God into every lifes situation. Through fervent prayer:
"The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much," James 5:16b
Establishing His kingdom on earth by proclaiming His word:
"Thy kingdom come, they will be done."
By living His word:
"Be doers of the word & not hearers only, deceiving yourselves."
Being actively involved in every sphere of life we live in, including government. God set up government & He expects His people to 'take it', from the point of Jesus words,
"IT IS FINISHED!"
In other words, as He passed the baton on to us at Calvary, He is saying, "Now you take it from here. You govern yourselves, you redeem & govern your land. I have overcome the world. I made it possible for you to claim your territory for Me, for Heaven, forever!"
Let us not lose sight of the fact that all of what is going on in this earth is a battle of good & evil, of war or peace, of God's will or the devils, & even of life & death. & like it or not, we are all in it. & that will not change until we go home to Jesus for those who know Him.
BUT.....
for those who belong to Jesus, who are fighting the good fight of faith by facing & resisting & yes defeating the giants of totalitarianism & tyranny, & I'm talking about evil spirits here, of our land, never forget,
"We win, we win, halleleujah! we win!!!!!!!!!!!!"
We are on the winning team! Ha! & how about this for one of our weapons to annihilate the enemy??
"If my people, who are called by my name, will
1. Humble themselves
2. Pray
3. Seek my face
4. & turn from their wicked ways,
I will hear from heaven,
forgive their sins, & heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14
Whoa. Now that's humbling, isn't it. The Lord is doing laser surgery on our hearts here. It's called "Working Out Your Own Salvation 101". But think of the impact it would make on our world! & the Kingdom of Light!
& the kingdom of darkness! KABOOM!!!
right in the gluteus maximus so to speak! because when he is fleeing, that's the portion of the enemies anatomy we will see! & that's what the Bible says the enemy does when we resist him! & in this battle between light & darkness which is going on as we 'speak', the Lord gives us the respites of graces, these little moments in miniature of things to come, these personal perks,
the sunrises...
the sunsets...
the moonrises...
roasting marshmallows on a cool summer night...
We are ending our summer days now, which does visit me with a sense of melancholy. But let's end our season, even in spite of everything, or maybe through the lens of faith, because of everything that is happening personally & across our globe, with celebration & expectancy of what God is doing right now, whether we see it or not, to bring us our "future & a hope". He is bringing it to birth. He is constantly waiting 'in the wings', to bring us abundant life, even every day. Let's run to embrace it, embrace Him!! & someday, when we are in the great 'Beyond', we will speak among ourselves & say, "Remember the summertime of 2021? Gosh, wasn't that a 'good old summertime'?" Because then we will see that Jesus was with us through it all, this good old summertime. & even 'til the end of the world.
